The IBM Power S822LC (8335-GTA PowerKVM) server with the components described below has been awarded the status of certified for Ubuntu.

This system was tested with 16.04 LTS, running the 4.4.0-31-generic kernel.

Certification notes
- Nested KVM requires latest qemu-system-ppc on the Ubuntu Guest
In order to use KVM on the Ubuntu Guest (nested hypervisor), you will need to be sure you're running QEMU version 1:2.2+dfsg-5expubuntu9.3~cloud0 or later. This version can be found in the Ubuntu Cloud Archive for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. To use this version of QEMU, use the following commands on your Ubuntu Guest VM
$ sudo add-apt-repository cloud-archive:kilo $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install qemu-system-ppc

In order to utilize this hardware with MAAS you will need to ensure your MAAS server is updated to at least Version 1.8.4.
To install this version, add the MAAS team stable PPA and update your maas server with apt-get.
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:maas/stable $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
MAAS 1.8.4 is also being SRU'd into Trusty and should be available from the Trusty repos at some point in the near future.
In the meantime, you will need to manually enlist this hardware in a MAAS environment prior to commissioning and deploying workloads.

In order to successfully enlist and commission this hardware in a MAAS environment, you will need to use the latest HWE kernel for full hardware support
